Application scenario: Liuzhou Steel 2032 mm hot rolling production line, cyclone pit turbid water system with 7 pump sets (5 long-shaft pumps and 2 slag flushing pumps), handling high-temperature turbid water containing steel slag and iron oxide particles. Severe corrosion and erosion conditions. Before retrofit, long-shaft pumps required maintenance every 2–3 months, frequent bearing burnouts and impeller wear, high energy consumption per ton steel, annual maintenance cost ~1 million RMB, no online monitoring, failures could cause rolling mill shutdown.


Solution content: M&W ENERGY SAVING fully invested EMC performance-sharing custody project (undertaken in 2013). Replaced old long-shaft pumps with wear-resistant upgraded models (duplex stainless steel shaft sleeves, thickened impellers, optimized hydraulic flow paths), installed 6 sets of variable frequency automatic control cabinets adjusting speed based on real-time cyclone pit level, eliminating valve throttling. Built remote water system expert platform with level/vibration/temperature/current sensors + wireless acquisition + dual-site monitoring, automatic fault warning. Pipeline desilting, wear-resistant elbow replacement, suction optimization. 24-hour on-site team with layered inspection, quarterly maintenance, annual overhaul system, and coordinated water quality/sediment control. All equipment transferred to customer free of charge after contract expiration.


Project results: Annual maintenance cost reduced from 1 million to 300,000 RMB (–70%); overhaul cycle extended from 2–3 months to 12–18 months (–60%+); monthly energy savings 375,000 RMB, annual savings over 4.5 million RMB, net annual profit increase ~2 million RMB, zero retrofit risk. Remote early warning significantly reduced unplanned rolling mill shutdowns, ensuring stable 2032 production line operation. Benchmark EMC project for high-wear turbid water systems in hot rolling lines, later replicated in multiple plants such as Longmen Steel, Nanjing Steel, Rizhao Steel.
